Manuscript Format

Manuscript preparation shall follow the APA format.:

  1. The paper should be organized according to the following order: Title: Name of the Author(s), Email Address, Academic Institution and Address; Abstract; Keywords; Introduction which include the framework of the study; Objectives/ purpose of the experimental study; Materials and Methods (for experimental researches) or Methodology (for non-experimental researches); Results and Discussion; Conclusions and recommendations; Acknowledgement (optional); and References.
  2. The title of the paper, all authors’ names and titles, academic institution and email addresses should appear in the cover page. The title should be in title case and centered on the page.
  3. The manuscript should be written in 6,000 to 10,000 words.
  4. The manuscript should be typed, single-spaced on a short (8.5 inches x 11 inches) white bond paper, with 1” left, 1” top, right, and bottom margins, using Times New Roman font style with 12 font size.
  5. Two spaces should be provided before and after the major headings and two spaces before and after subheadings. The 7th edition of the APA Publication Manual outlines a five-level heading structure, each with different formatting requirements. Here's a summary of the APA guidelines for headings:

Level 1: Centered, Bold, Title Case

Level 3: Indented, Bold, Italicized, Title Case

Level 4: Indented, Bold, Title Case, Ending with a Period

  1. References should be relevant and substantial and with complete publication/ copyright data. They should be sourced from current, reputable international, national and local journals, online references and published books. Ensure that in-text citations and the reference list follow APA guidelines. In the references section, make sure to use hanging indentation.
  2. Citations dated years back may be considered depending on the nature of the study.
  3. Acronyms and abbreviations should be written in full when mentioned the first time in the manuscript.

Eg.: Department of Education (DepEd)

  1. Scientific names should be italicized, written in full and enclosed in parentheses all throughout the manuscript.
  2. Metric system should be used according to International System Units.
  3. Spell out numbers from one to ten, except when used in tables and lists, and when used with mathematical, statistical, scientific, or technical units and quantities, such as distances, weights, and measures.
  4. Tables and figures should be in horizontal rule. Captions of tables and figures should be presented according to the format used by the discipline. Ensure that tables and figures adhere to APA formatting guidelines, including proper numbering and captions.
  5. References should be cited using the current version of American Psychological Association (APA) format (arranged in alphabetical order)
  6. Page number should be placed in the lower right corner.
